Inside a moving bus en route from Khiva to Bukhara, alongside eighteen FIELD MEETING participants, Istanbul-based artist and writer Deniz Gül recited passages from her book there is life between us (+ transparency) and shared traditional songs from Turkey. Taking place in transit between two historic Silk Road cities, the offering transformed the journey into a moving site of reflection, where song, text, and landscape intertwined.

Gül's book unfolds through a series of fragmentary texts that examine transparency as a way of reconsidering perception, meaning, and human relations. Throughout her practice, words become a form of architecture, shaping how experience is understood and communicated. Within the context of Uzbekistan, a region shaped by centuries of cultural, religious, and linguistic transformation, marked by successive empires, migrations, and upheavals—Gül's words and songs evoked the ever-unfolding entangled histories between Central Asia and Turkey.​ Shared while traversing the desert road between Khiva and Bukhara, the offering resonated with FIELD MEETING's broader exploration of pilgrimage as a passage through both external and internal landscapes. Expression emerged as a spiritual vessel, revealing the unseen currents that continue to bind people, places, and histories across time.
