Love as Practice

A reflective conversation on September 10, 2025 | Samarkand

As one of the concluding offerings of FIELD MEETING Take 7, held in the garden of the Ulugh Beg Observatory Museum in Samarkand, curator Lila Nazemian offered a personal reflection on the pursuit of love as both an inward path and a way of being in relation to others. Drawing from her experiences as a curator where exhibition-making often unfolds through sustained acts of listening, care, and exchange—as well as her own psychological and emotional experiences, she reflected on the many forms love takes across family, friendship, sibling bonds, artistic collaboration, and romantic partnership. Her sincerity and openness created a space in which participants were moved to share their own reflections on love. Framed as an ongoing inquiry into the science, beauty, and practice of love, the conversation lingered in the paradoxes of intimacy, where devotion and desire, vulnerability and self-protection, often reveal the intricate architecture of the ego. Amid a site devoted to mapping the heavens and the movements of celestial bodies, the gathering turned toward the equally complex constellations of the human heart.
