In Conversation
Talking Peers | Take 2
April 29th, 2022
For Asia Contemporary Art Forum’s first rendition of their new program ‘Talking Peers’, artist, writer, and educator Yasi Alipor is in conversation with curator and ACAF board member, Megha Ralapati. This discussion centers around Alipor’s recent solo exhibition ‘The Pleasure of Future Cycles’ in collaboration with Twelve Gates Arts curated by Maryam Ghoreishi.
Alipor’s work explores the pleasurable act of continuation through the repetition of folding. Having dedicated over two decades of her life to understanding the capabilities of paper and the motion of the fold, she highlights the value of time through the construction created with the material of paper.
Throughout the conversation Megha and Yasi discuss the instinctual connection between the mind and the body translated through the material and a tactile act, the influence and poetry that mathematics has played in Yasi’s life and of course the beauty of paper, paper and more paper.
